Montmorency Falls - at 270 feet, 90 feet higher than Niagara Falls - empties into the St. Lawrence River a few miles above Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The Montmorency Falls, on the Montmorency River, are located in front of the Island of Orleans (in the St. Lawrence River) and were named by Samuel de Champlain for his patron, the duke of Montmorency. Though higher than Niagara, they are far narrower.
